Nador sits on the Mar Chica lagoon in the Rif's eastern foothills, a short drive from the Spanish enclave of Melilla. It is not a classic tourist city, and that is exactly why the transport need here is different: most of our passengers are members of the Moroccan diaspora coming home for the summer, families crossing at the Beni Ensar border, and business travellers working between Nador, Oujda and Melilla.

The practical result is that we run more minibuses and vans in Nador than anywhere else in the north. A family of eight arriving on a summer flight from Brussels or Dusseldorf with a season's worth of luggage does not fit in a taxi, and the airport at Al Aroui is 25 km from the city with limited transport at night.

For visitors, the region is genuinely underrated. The Mar Chica lagoon and the Marchica development, the beach resort at Saidia 60 km east, the Cap des Trois Fourches headland, and the spectacular coast road west towards Al Hoceima all reward a car and a driver who knows the roads.

Why hire a driver here

  • Al Aroui Airport is 25 km from the city with thin late-night transport
  • Beni Ensar port and the Melilla border need a vehicle on the Moroccan side
  • Summer family arrivals come with far more luggage than a taxi holds
  • Saidia, Al Hoceima and Cap des Trois Fourches have no useful bus links
  • The coast road west to Al Hoceima is winding and best driven by a local

Included in every booking

  • Fuel, tolls and driver fees for the agreed route
  • Airport, port and border meet and greet with a name board
  • Extra luggage capacity for family arrivals at no extra charge
  • Arabic, Tarifit Berber, French and Spanish-speaking drivers on request
  • Flight and ferry tracking so the driver waits if you are delayed

Airport and Port Transfers in Nador

Nador Al Aroui Airport (NDR) is 25 km south of the city, roughly 30 minutes away, and it is busiest in summer when diaspora flights arrive from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Spain. Those arrivals come in waves and the taxi rank cannot absorb them, so pre-booked minibuses are the practical answer.

Beni Ensar, 13 km north, is both the ferry port for sailings from Almeria and Motril and the crossing point into Melilla. We collect on the Moroccan side of the border and at the ferry terminal, with the driver tracking the sailing so nobody waits at a barrier with luggage.

Driving and Getting Around Nador

Nador is a Tarifit-speaking Berber city with a strong Spanish influence from its proximity to Melilla, and many drivers here work comfortably in Spanish as well as Arabic and French. That is a practical advantage at the border and for visitors coming across from Spain.

The city itself is easy to drive, laid out along the lagoon, but the border area at Beni Ensar gets congested and the crossing procedure takes time. Our drivers know the queuing arrangements and where to wait so pick-ups are quick.

West of the city the coast road towards Al Hoceima is one of the most scenic in Morocco and one of the slowest - constant bends above the sea for 150 km. Budget two and a half hours, not the ninety minutes the distance suggests.

FAQs

Nador Car Hire With Driver - Your Questions

Do you pick up at the Melilla border crossing?

Yes. We collect on the Moroccan side at Beni Ensar once you have cleared the crossing. Tell us the approximate time and the driver waits at the agreed point - crossings can be slow, and waiting time is included in the price.

Can you meet a summer flight at Nador Al Aroui with a big family group?

That is our most common Nador booking. A 17-seat minibus with a luggage trailer if needed will take a full family and its suitcases from the airport to any address in the Nador, Selouane or Driouch area. Book early for July and August.

How far is Nador from Fes?

330 km and about four hours by road, mostly on good dual carriageway through Taza. It is a straightforward transfer and a common one for travellers connecting from the Mediterranean coast to the imperial cities.

How much is a driver from Nador airport to the city?

A sedan transfer starts at about and a minibus for a family with luggage is around . Prices are fixed in advance, and the driver waits at no extra cost if your flight is delayed.

Is Saidia worth a day trip from Nador?

Yes, especially in summer. It is an hour east and has a 14 km stretch of Mediterranean sand, a marina and plenty of restaurants. The Moulouya estuary nature reserve on the way is worth a stop for birdwatchers.

Do your Nador drivers speak Spanish?

Many do, because of the Melilla connection. We also have Tarifit Berber, Arabic, French and English speakers. Tell us your preference when you book and we confirm the driver's languages in advance.
