Nador sits on the Mar Chica lagoon in the Rif's eastern foothills, a short drive from the Spanish enclave of Melilla. It is not a classic tourist city, and that is exactly why the transport need here is different: most of our passengers are members of the Moroccan diaspora coming home for the summer, families crossing at the Beni Ensar border, and business travellers working between Nador, Oujda and Melilla.
The practical result is that we run more minibuses and vans in Nador than anywhere else in the north. A family of eight arriving on a summer flight from Brussels or Dusseldorf with a season's worth of luggage does not fit in a taxi, and the airport at Al Aroui is 25 km from the city with limited transport at night.
For visitors, the region is genuinely underrated. The Mar Chica lagoon and the Marchica development, the beach resort at Saidia 60 km east, the Cap des Trois Fourches headland, and the spectacular coast road west towards Al Hoceima all reward a car and a driver who knows the roads.
