Airport and Port Transfers in Marrakech

Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) sits just 6 km southwest of the medina, so transfers are short - but arrivals halls get crowded and taxi negotiation at the rank is a well-known nuisance. Your driver waits inside the terminal with a name board and takes you straight to the car park.

The city is also a rail hub. Marrakech station in Gueliz connects to Casablanca and Rabat, and many travellers combine the train north with a private car south, where the railway does not go. We handle station pick-ups exactly like airport pick-ups, with the same fixed price agreed in advance.

Driving and Getting Around Marrakech

Marrakech traffic mixes taxis, scooters, calèches and delivery carts, and the roundabouts around the medina walls work on eye contact more than on lane markings. Visitors who self-drive usually spend their first day tense; with a driver, that day is spent in the souks instead.

The medina itself is pedestrian territory. Cars can enter a few wide streets but not the derbs where most riads are, so every arrival ends with a short walk. Tell us your riad name when you book and the driver will pick the closest gate, which can save you a 15-minute trek with suitcases.

Outside the city, the roads are good but specific. The N9 to Ouarzazate climbs to 2,260 m at the Tizi n Tichka and is regularly resurfaced; in winter, snow can close it for a few hours and our drivers monitor the pass before departure. The N8 to Agadir and the R207 to Essaouira are straightforward but heavily patrolled for speed.

About nine hours of pure driving over 560 km, which is why almost nobody does it in one go. The standard version is a two-day journey with a night in Dades or Ouarzazate, stopping at Ait Ben Haddou, the Todra Gorge and the rose valley at Kelaa des Mgouna on the way.
