The city itself is Morocco at its most modern and least touristic: a working port, a financial district, wide boulevards and traffic that behaves like any large business capital. Lane discipline on the main boulevards is loose, the port and rail approaches are congested most of the day, and downtown parking is scarce enough that many hotels quietly advise against a car.
