Mohammed V sits 30 km outside the city, which means clearing immigration after an overnight leg and then facing a real drive before you reach a hotel.
The city is Morocco at its most commercial and least touristic - a working port, a financial district, wide boulevards and traffic that behaves like any large business capital. Indian business travellers will find it a recognisable environment; leisure visitors often treat it purely as the gateway and move on the same day.
It is the hardest city in the country to drive comfortably. Lane discipline on the main axes is loose, the port and rail approaches stay congested through most of the day, and downtown parking is scarce enough that hotels quietly advise against a car.
